Hi everyone!
Art has been my passion my entire life and I have always known that I want to help people experience and create art.
This is my 14th year teaching art in the public school system. I taught in Saline and Birmingham before returning to Ann Arbor where I completed my student teaching in 2008. I attended Eastern Michigan University for both undergrad and grad work. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts and K-12 teaching certification with a concentration in drawing in 2008 and completed my Master of Arts in Visual Arts Education with a concentration in painting in 2015. For my Masters Thesis project I wrote a 2nd grade STEAM curriculum for my classroom. Below you can see an example of a commissioned portrait I completed in 2018 .
I currently live in Hamburg Township with my daughter Matilda, my partner Matthew, and our five cats Evie, Dax, Dutch, Ozzy, and Lucy. In my free-time I like to spend time with my family and friends, paint (here are some pictures of my artwork!), draw, read, garden, and go for walks .
It is such a joy to be able to teach early childhood art at Bryant Elementary and watch our students grow as they move to Pattengill Elementary; I look forward to instilling a love for art and life-long learning in the children at this school.
Here are some things that are important to me in the classroom:
